At Penstack, we have always believed that software should empower, not complicate. Today we are excited to introduce a refreshed home for our work — including a closer look at the products we are building like AlecerPay, Verse, and Farmetix.
Software that gets out of the way
Most business software fails for the same reason: it is built to demonstrate features rather than to finish work. Teams end up shaping their process around the tool instead of the other way round, and software meant to save time quietly becomes another thing to manage.
We start from the opposite end. Before writing anything, we want to understand how a business actually runs today — where the delays sit, which steps get skipped when things are busy, and what people are quietly working around. The aim is software that fits the way you already work and still holds up as volumes grow.
That principle shows up in small decisions as much as large ones: sensible defaults instead of configuration screens, clear error messages instead of silent failures, and interfaces that do not need a training session before anyone can use them.
The products we are building
Alongside our client work, we build and run our own products. Each one started as a problem we kept meeting and could not solve well with what was already available.
AlecerPay
AlecerPay gives freelancers, remote workers and businesses across Africa multi-currency accounts, global payment collection, and virtual and physical cards — so getting paid from abroad and spending those funds does not require stitching together three separate services. Payments are unforgiving work: reconciliation has to be exact, a retried request must not become a second charge, and trust is lost far more quickly than it is earned. It is the product that most sharpens how we think about reliability.
Verse
Verse is a desktop-first media presentation app for churches — scripture, song lyrics, service plans and multi-screen output, all running locally. Most tools in this space assume a reliable connection, which is exactly the assumption that fails at the worst possible moment. Verse is built to run Sunday from a laptop, so a dropped network never interrupts a service.
It is designed around the people actually operating the desk: a pastor who does not want a cursor drifting across the screen mid-sermon, a volunteer on projection who needs the next slide to be one keystroke away, and a media lead planning the service beforehand. One service plan carries through from planning to rehearsal to presentation, and typography stays put instead of reflowing when it matters most.
Farmetix
Farmetix is a single operating system for poultry and catfish farms: daily logs recorded in the pens, feed and inventory tracked to the kilogram, payroll, and a monthly profit-and-loss statement for every farm. Too many farms still run on notebooks and WhatsApp groups, which means nobody knows what actually made money until well after the month has closed. Agriculture also rarely gets software designed for its real conditions — intermittent connectivity, work that happens outdoors, records that must reconcile with what head office sees. Farmetix works offline and syncs when it can, because the alternative is asking a farm hand to find signal before recording anything.
A clearer view of how we work
The refreshed site is more than a visual change. Our services now have pages of their own, so you can read in detail about the specific capability you need — whether that is software development, design and user experience, cloud and infrastructure, or technology training.
We have also given AI Engineering a home of its own. AI has moved from novelty to something clients now ask about directly, and we build AI-powered applications, machine-learning pipelines and LLM-backed features as production systems — held to the same standards for reliability and maintainability we apply everywhere else.
